Our PostLapsarian State of Being
The social media sphere is exploding with updates on Facebook passing its 500 million users mark? Where were the news when QQ surpassed the half billion mark?
Despite the celebratory moods in Zuckerberg's office, there are rumblings in the janitor's quaters and a growing sentiment of disatisfaction or dare I say dissent among the grassroots. In the rankings of 2010 American Customer Satisfaction Index (ACSI), and the big news is this: You and about 200 or so million others (me included) don't like Facebook all that much. But we are still on the world's largest social networking site anyway, probably because we have to be.
What is wrong with Facebook? Why do so many people use it and still do not love it? Could it be the hangover from the Microsoft Malaise? Or could it be the leprosy is creeping into its system just like Friendster?
Wha't's good about Facebook?
What's not so good about Facebook?
My question remains... Where were are all the hype when QQ busted the 500 million mark?

The Old Spice Guy online camapign was a blast while it lasted. It ended on 15th July with this message on Twitter. Kudos to the Wieden + Kennedy team who thought it up and spent countless of hours executing it with balanced engagement across celebrities, influencers, common folk and popular social media sites. They instinctively knew how to talk to this diverse group. The Old Spice guy even talks directly to his daughter, explaining that until recently, he was just a struggling actor no one has ever heard of. This is such a direct and heartfelt engagement that speaks directly to me as an audience and consumer. Wieden + Kennedy have set a 'diamonds' standard for social media engagement that will make it hard for us to follow in the years to come. This is the future of consumer engagement.
We bid fond farewell to you Old Spice Guy~~~~ Tschüß Tschüß
